RIMC is a fully residential public school offering education from Class VIII to Class XII under the CBSE curriculum. Admission to RIMC is conducted on an All India basis and is highly competitive. The selection process consists of a written examination, followed by a viva-voce (interview) and a medical examination. Who can apply?
Admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) is open to boys and girls from across India who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria and aspire to build a career in the Indian Armed Forces.
To be eligible for admission, candidates must:
- Be Indian citizens.
- Be studying in or have passed Class VII from a recognized school at the time of admission.
- Fall within the age limits prescribed by RIMC for the respective admission term.
- Successfully qualify the All India Entrance Examination, followed by the Viva-Voce (Interview) and Medical Examination.
- Meet the required medical and physical fitness standards.
The entrance examination is conducted twice a year, and applications are invited through State Governments and Union Territory Administrations. Selection is purely on merit, ensuring equal opportunity for eligible candidates from every part of the country.

Basis of admission
Admission to the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) is conducted on an All India merit basis through a rigorous three-stage selection process designed to identify academically capable, physically fit, and well-rounded candidates.
01. Written Examination :
The first stage is the RIMC Entrance Examination, conducted twice a year by the respective State Governments and Union Territory Administrations. The examination assesses candidates in:
- English
- Mathematics
- General Knowledge
Candidates must secure the prescribed qualifying marks to be shortlisted for the next stage.
02. Viva-Voce (Interview) :
Shortlisted candidates are invited for a Viva-Voce (Interview), where their communication skills, confidence, personality, intelligence, and overall suitability for life at RIMC are evaluated.
03. Medical Examination :
Candidates who qualify the interview undergo a comprehensive medical examination conducted by a designated Military Hospital to ensure they meet the medical and physical fitness standards prescribed for admission.
04. Final Selection :
The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the Written Examination, Viva-Voce, and successful clearance of the Medical Examination. Admission is granted strictly on merit, subject to the availability of vacancies and fulfillment of all eligibility requirements.

The RIMC Admission Test is conducted twice every year, giving eligible candidates two opportunities annually to apply for admission.

Step 2: Complete the Application Form
Fill in the application form carefully with accurate personal, academic, and contact details. Ensure that all required information is complete before submission.
Step 3: Attach the Required Documents
The following documents must be enclosed with the application:
- Recent passport-size photographs of the candidate
- Birth Certificate (Proof of Date of Birth)
- Domicile Certificate
- School Verification/Bonafide Certificate
- Aadhaar Card
Step 4: Submit the Application
The completed application form, along with the prescribed fee and supporting documents, must be sent by post to the designated State Government/Union Territory authority responsible for conducting the RIMC Entrance Examination in the candidate’s state.
