Many parents think that six months is too little time to prepare for the RIMC entrance exam. Every year thousands of students appear for it. But with proper planning, six months are enough  to prepare well.

The key is to divide these six months into different phases and to focus on one goal at a time.

PHASE1: UNDERSTAND THE EXAM.

Before starting the preparations, it is important for both students and parents to understand the  RIMC entrance exam properly. This helps in making a realistic study plan and avoiding  unnecessary stress later.

-what subjects are asked in the exam?

The written examination has three subjects:

1.mathematics: this is the most important section and carries the highest marks. Questions are  asked from topics such at arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mensuration. A strong understanding  of basic concepts is very important

2.English: This section tests grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills. Students  who read regularly and practise writing usually perform better.

3.general knowledge: questions are asked from current affairs, history, geography, science and  important events taking place in india and around the world.

PHASE2: BUILDING STRONG BASICS.

This this the most important phase.

Students should focus on understanding concepts instead of trying to finish many chapters  quickly.

-which topics are important?

For mathematics, students should pay attention to:

1. fractions nd decimals

2. ratio and proportions

3. Percentages

4. Algebra

5. Profit and loss

6 geometry

For English:

1. Grammar

2. Reading comprehension

3. Sentence correction

4. Essay writing

For general knowledge:

1. Current affairs

2. Important historical events

3. Geography of india and the world

4. Basic science

5. Important personalities and awards

Instead starting to study everything at once you should first get comfortable with these topics.

PHASE 3: PRACTICE AND MOCK TESTS.

Once the basics are clear, students should start practicing regularly.

This includes:

-previous year papers

-topic wise tests

-full length mock tests

Many students get nervous when they do not score well in the beginning

Parents should remember that mock tests are meant for learning.

After every test, discuss:

– which questions were difficult

– Which topics need more revision

– Were these careless mistakes

Improvements from one test to another is more important than the score of a single test.

PHASE 4: REVISION AND INTERVIEW PREPARATION.

The final month should be used mainly for revision.

Revise:

– important formulas

– Grammar rules

– Vocabulary

– Current affairs

– Mistakes made in earlier tests.

At the same time, start preparing for the interview.

Students should be able to answer simple questions like:

– tell us about yourself

– Why do you want to join RIMC?

– What are your hobbies?

– What qualities make a good leading?

– What are the recent important events in the country?

Interview is not only about knowledge,

The panel looks for confidence, honesty and a positive attitude.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Six months may seem short, but it is enough if the preparation is regular and planned. Parents do not need to put unnecessary pressure on their children. Instead, encourage them to  study consistently, practise regularly and stay confident.

Remember, success in RIMC does not depend only on intelligence. Discipline, hard work and the  right guidance play an equally important role.
