In June 2024 Exam for the session term of January 2025 ,A student with 262 marks got the
selection , while a student with 321 marks was put in the wait list !!

This happens every year. Let’s understand why ??

• RIMC Dehradun is the most respected Defense School in this country. A handful of students get a chance to get into this esteemed institution every 6 months.
• The admission is through a very competitive written exam followed by the interview for the shortlisted candidates. Merit is the only criterion; there are NO reservations of any kind.

2) Interview : 50 marks

Question : How many total marks your child should score to get an admission in RIMC Well there is not a definite answer to this and not very many people are aware of the basis of this merit list. we shall help you understand the process.

To simplify , your admission in RIMC broadly depends on two factors :

• Your total marks
• Your domicile state

Every state has fixed number of seats for admission to RIMC Dehradun.
Generally 1 seat per state , however bigger states like UP have more.
( UP : 3 , Tamil Nadu :2 ,Maharashtra : 2, West Bengal : 2)

This translates to a very interesting fact that in many instances candidates with low scores
can get a final selection if they happen to be from a particular state.

1) There are states where only 1 candidate got shortlisted , so his selection is 100% pukka , subject to his clearing the medical round.
( Example : Assam, Chattisgarh, J&K, ,Gujarat )

2) And this is funny , in these cases , where they have 2 seats per state ,Only one student cleared the written exam ( Example : Tamil Nadu & West Bengal) In the above 2 cases , a
student would get a final admission even if his score is 220 !!

3) And these states have cut throat competition , look at number of students who cleared the written exam and shall now fight for 1 or 2 seats

1)	Bihar	14 students ( 1 seat)
2)	Haryana	15 students ( 2 seats)
3)	UP	21 students ( 3 seats)

In these states , a student has to score above 300 to earn his seat !!

A snapshot on Girls admission in RIMC RIMC started taking girl students from 2021 and with 5 seats per term. The plan is to take this number to 10.

Data from December 2024 Exam Total 22 girls qualified after the written exam. UP & Haryana are leading in numbers with 7 & 4 respectively. 2 girls from Uttarakhand qualified.

So , that is it !! Life has never been fair.
Having said this , RIMC is a wonderful wonderful institution to compete for and secure an admission.
