About the school

There are 5 Rashtriya Military Schools in India. These are fully residential premier institutions , administrated by the Directorate General of Miltary Training, classified as Category ‘A’ establishment. These are public schools with best of facilities, affiliated to the CBSE board. The fee for these schools is highly subsidised and borne by Ministry of Defence, government of India.

These schools were established in 1930s. Admission to RMS is on the basis of an All India Written Exam, Interview and a medical test.

Recent updates : 

  1. The exam cycle for academic session 2021-22 was delayed by a year because of the pandemic.
  2. Girls are now eligible to apply to RMS from academic session 2022-23.

What is the criteria of reservation of seats ?

The reservation of seats has been categorized as mentioned:
70% seats are reserved for the wards of serving & retired JCOs/OR in Army, Navy & Air force.
30% seats for the wards of serving/retired of Army, Air force, Navy & Civilians
27%, 15% & 7.5% of the seats in each category are reserved for OBC, SC & ST.
A total of 50 seats reserved for the wards of personal killed in action.

What number of seats are reserved for girl candidates ?

10% seats wil be reserved for girl candidates for class 6th
(30 vacancies maximum, put together in all 5 RMSs)

What is the procedure of RMS entrance examination ?

Who can apply for December 2023 Exam?

For Class 6 : Boys & Girls between 10 to 12 years of age, as on 31st March 2024. Born between 1st April 2012 to 31st March 2014.

For Class 9 : Only Boys who are in class 8th or 9th, between 13 to 15 years of age, as on 31st March 2024. Born between 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2011.
