These are all leading boarding schools, under ministry of defence. The admission to these schools is on the basis of an All India Exam. Both boys & girls can apply to these schools.
Rashtriya Indian Military College, (RIMC) Dehradun
This is a unique institution. Admission is in class 8. Admission Test happens twice a year, in June & in December.

There are 5 Rashtriya Military Schools in India. Admission is in class 6 & class 9. Admission test happens once a year, generally in December.

Sainik Schools
There are over 33 schools in India. Admission is in class 6 & class 9. Admission test happens once a year, generally in January.

UP Sainik School, Lucknow
This is the first Sainik School of the country. Also known as Capt. Manoj Pandey Sainik School. Admission is in class 6 & class 9. Admission test happens once a year, generally in January.

Must have passed Class 5th and 8th for admission in class 6th and 9th respectively by 20th May of the admission year.
